Comparative Analysis of Corporate Governance

Marek Jakoby (M.E.S.A. 10)

Mr. Marek Jakoby (M.E.S.A. 10) analyzes the current pension system in the Slovak Republic, including the public pay-as-you-go and the private voluntary pension fund system. Slovakia introduced voluntary supplementary pensions quite early, and these are regarded as successful in comparison with the experiences of some other Central and Eastern European counties. Slovak experts claim that the pension system needs further structural reform, including: measures to improve the balance of the pay-as-you-go social security system; implementation of mandatory funded private pensions; and improvement of pension fund regulation with respect to investment and supervision.
