Kosovo
Kosovo`s financial system is one of the smallest among the surveyed countries. Loan portfolios of the banking sector represent only 35 percent of GDP, among the lowest levels in the 29 countries surveyed and far below the CEE Southern Tier regional average of 61 percent. The ratio of deposits to GDP is also low indicating that the financial sector, while liquid, has limited room to expand credit activities. The medium-term capacity of the banking sector as reflected by the share of bank capital to GDP is also small.
