Seminar: The Developing Capital Markets of Central and Eastern Europe: Prospects for Stock Exchange Reforms and Harmonization

On October 20, 2000 the PFS Program, in cooperation with the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, organized a seminar entitled, “The Developing Capital Markets of Central and Eastern Europe: Prospects for Stock Exchange Reforms and Harmonization. “ The seminar focused on the current strategic and regulatory challenges facing the Central and Eastern European (CEE) as well as South Eastern European (SEE) stock exchanges. Additionally, panellists and participants from 17 CEE and SEE countries addressed these challenges in the context of globalization.

PFS Program Opening Conference: Addressing Institutional Gaps in the Financial Sectors of the Baltic States, Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe

On June 8-9, 2000 the PFS Program held its Opening Conference: Addressing Institutional Gaps in the Financial Sectors of the Baltic States, Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
Speakers and participants represented a variety of disciplines and institutions from throughout the region, the European Union and the United States as well as international financial organizations. Conference panels discussed the past decade’s experience of financial sector reform and current issues affecting banking, capital markets, insurance and pension systems.
