During the three year implementation of the PFS program, we envision our activities to include the following: requests for cross border training events from CEE and SEE institutions; requests for sub-grants by CEE/SEE institutions interested in implementing financial sector training and policy advice; and more information collection and dissemination of lessons learned throughout the region. We believe that these efforts will lead to an increase in the adoption of international standards, will provide critical training of financial institutions staff, and will address gaps in financial institution policies. As we indicated above, we are undertaking this work in concert with many local NGOs via sub-grants for training and policy advice, as well as CEE financial experts and experts from outside the region.
EWMI is collaborating closely with USAID and the other partners implementing the bi-lateral component of the PFS program (i.e., Financial Services Volunteer Corps, the U.S. Treasury Department, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission). This collaboration ensures that our respective programs support and enhance financial sector reform in the region.
