The experience of the Central European and Baltic Countries in the area of financial sector development should be shared with the South-eastern European Countries.

One of the key objectives of the PFS program is to promote regional cooperation. In June, for example, PFS held a two day conference in Budapest which provided an opportunity for representatives of government, non government organizations, and private enterprise from CEE and SEE countries to share with each other and representatives of donor organizations their experiences and concerns in the area of financial sector reforms. Such information sharing will ideally result in creating and strengthening regional linkages and adopting international standards in the financial sector. In another example, EWMI is in discussion with OECD to jointly establish and operate a regional network for pension reform. The network will develop international best practices and guidelines for pension reform in the CEE and SEE region, and establish linkages among pension reform regulators and pension market players. In addition, the network will promote the sharing of experiences and accelerate reform, provide sound economic analysis of pension reforms to date and develop performance indicators to measure the success of reforms.
